The first nationally synchronized election under pandemic conditions is already underway – military and overseas voters may have had ballot packets for two weeks and domestic mail ballots are typically in the mail to voters or already there. Much more attention is being paid to central count process in this election because of the huge expansion of remote voting on paper aka Vote By Mail or Vote At Home or Absentee voting. Because eligibility checking is a serious challenge with remote voting, signature verification is of special interest this election as are the postmark and the outdoor drop box. As an election watcher I am helping to prepare others for what they might get a chance to see now that fewer citizens are visiting polling places and instead mailing or dropping off a home-voted paper ballot.
Here is the link to my page of stories from watching experiences and opportunities to watch election process remotely in this current election. Enjoy!
